Quick Couplings with NFC Identification for Engine Testing

Customized solutions

The couplings are intended for connecting fuel lines to engines in a test environment. With integrated CEJN Identification System any risks of cross-connections can be avoided to make sure that engines are tested with the correct fuel quality.

CEJN Identification System with Near Field Communication Technology

CIS-365/565 is a piece of electronic equipment consisting of a combination of our 365/565 series couplings and the CEJN Identification System with Near Field Communication Technology. It is designed to give a signal that reads if a coupling is connected to the correct nipple. Each nipple is equipped with an individual tag-ID and each coupling have an antenna sleeve. When the coupling is connected to the nipple, the tag is activated and the coupling reads the tag-ID. The tag-ID information is sent through Wi-Fi/TCPIP from the CIS-530 device to the test section.

Customer Problem

The solution is invented for a customer in the marine and industrial industry to secure engines are tested with the correct fuel quality. In the engine testing facility, the process was handled manually with several different fuel qualities depending on which market it was tested for. The customer required a solution to make sure engines are not connected to the wrong fuel quality. This, to be able to execute correct certificates without having to re-test the engines and avoid high costs, time and fuel waste.

The Solution

The solution has made the customer able to assure engines are tested with the right fuel quality. Each fuel quality is connected to a hose with a coupling equipped with CEJN Identification System. In the cabinet where the engine is tested, there is a nipple for each fuel quality. When the coupling is connected with a nipple, the tag-ID is recognized and sends a signal. The test section receives the signal with a message that the correct fuel quality is connected for the specific engine, and the test sequence can be started. If the coupling is connected to a nipple with the wrong fuel quality, a signal is sent with the message that the connection is wrong and no test sequence is started.
