1. Aux fins de la présente directive, les valeurs limites d'exposition et les valeurs d'exposition déclenchant l'action dans
le respect des niveaux d'exposition quotidienne au bruit et de la pression acoustique sont fixés à :
(a) les valeurs limites d'exposition : LEX,8h = 87 dB(A) et ppeak = 200 Pa respectivement;
(b) valeurs d'exposition supérieures déclenchant l'action : LEX,8h = 85 dB(A) et ppeak = 140 Pa respectivement;

En d'autres mots
La valeur minimale d'exposition déclenchant l'action est de 80 dB(A) et la valeur maximale d'exposition déclenchant l'action est de 85 dB(A). La valeur limite d'exposition est de 87 dB(A).

For all hoses above 10-mm bore, or where pressures exceed 7 bar, or where hose length is greater than 10 meters, a coupling should be used which has a self-venting socket which releases the downstream pressure before disconnection is possible. Alternatively, a plug having a controlled venting action should be used. These safety features prevent uncontrolled whipping of hose when its inlet end is uncoupled from the socket.
With large bore hoses of 19 mm and above, an unexpected hose failure or accidental disconnection of a tool or fitting can cause a dangerous situation to arise because the sudden increase in air flow can result in the whipping of hose; also the sudden loss of pressure can cause a hazard elsewhere in the system.
To prevent this, a flow limiting valve should be fitted between rigid piping and the inlet end of the hose. This valve automatically closes should an excessive flow condition develop and will remain closed until normal conditions are restored.
In Other Words
A coupling with a self-venting socket that releases downstream pressure before disconnection should be used for hose above 10-mm bore or with pressures over 7 bar.
Compliance of CEJN Pneumatic Safety Products
CEJN pneumatic safety couplings fully comply with the above requirements by offering a controlled pressure-release system.
CEJN anti-hose whip nipples with recoil dampening fully comply with the above requirements by offering a non-return valve that vents downstream pressure when disconnected.

Paragraph 9.6: Quick-Action Couplings
Quick-action (quick-release) couplings shall be selected so that when they are coupled or uncoupled:
• The coupling shall not be forced apart in a hazardous manner;
• Compressed air or particles shall not be expelled in a hazardous manner;
• A controlled pressure-release system shall be provided where a hazard may exist.
In Other Words
The function of quick action couplings should be easy and intuitive for the operator. The discharge of air should be maintained under control during disconnection of the quick action coupling and nipple. Vented style or safety couplings should be used in certain applications.
Compliance of CEJN Pneumatic Safety Couplings
CEJN pneumatic eSafe and safety couplings fully comply with the above requirements, without being cumbersome to handle or reducing performance.

Paragraph 1910.95(b) (1)
When employees are subjected to sound exceeding those listed in Table G-16, feasible administrative or engineering controls shall be utilized. If such controls fail to reduce sound levels within the levels of Table G-16, personal protective equipment shall be provided and used to reduce sound levels within the levels of the table.
In Other Words
Controls need to be utilized when employees are subjected to sound exceeding listed levels; otherwise protective equipment must be utilized.
Compliance of CEJN Pneumatic Safety Products
CEJN's Series 208 blowgun with a Star-Tip complies by reducing noise levels down to 85 dB(A) or less.
CEJN vented safety couplings comply by disconnecting in two stages, thereby reducing noise.

Footnote (1): When the daily noise exposure is composed of two or more periods of noise exposure of different levels, their combined effect should be considered, rather than the individual effect of each. If the sum of the following fractions: C(1) / T(1) + C(2) / T(2) C(n) / T(n) exceeds unity, then, the mixed exposure should be considered to exceed the limit value. Cn indicates the total time of exposure at a specified noise level, and Tn indicates the total time of exposure permitted at that level. Exposure to impulsive or impact noise should not exceed 140 dB peak sound pressure level.

Paragraph 1910.95(c) (1)
The employer shall administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program, as described in paragraphs (c) through (o) of this section, whenever employee noise exposures equal or exceed an 8-hour time-weighted average sound level (TWA) of 85 decibels measured on the A scale (slow response) or, equivalently, a dose of fifty percent. For purposes of the hearing conservation program, employee noise exposures shall be computed in accordance with appendix A and Table G-16a, and without regard to any attenuation provided by the use of personal protective equipment.
In Other Words
Whenever noise exposure levels exceed an 8-hour, time-weighted average sound level of 85 dB(A), employers should implement a noise conservation program, in order to protect employees from hearing damage.
OSHA Instruction STD 01-13-001
(vanha direktiivinumero: STD 1-13.1)
Ilmapaineen alentaminen alle 30 PSI siivouksen yhteydessä
Julkaisija: U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA)
3. Interpretation
The phrase "reduce to less than 30 PSI (2 bar)" means that the downstream pressure of the air at the nozzle (nozzle pressure) or opening of a gun, pipe, cleaning lance, etc., used for cleaning purposes will remain at a pressure level below 30 PSI for all static conditions. The requirements for dynamic flow are such that in the case when dead ending occurs, a static pressure at the main orifice shall not exceed 30 PSI. This require-
ment is necessary in order to prevent a back pressure buildup in case the nozzle is obstructed or dead ended. There is no intent to restrict the diameter of the nozzle orifice or the volume (CFM) flowing from it.
"Effective chip guarding" means any method or equipment, which will prevent a chip or particle (of whatever size) from being blown into the eyes or unbroken skin of the operator or other workers. Effective chip guarding may be separate from the air nozzle, as in the case where screens or barriers are used. The use of protective cone air nozzles are acceptable in general for protection of the operator; but barriers, baffles or screens may be required to protect other workers if they are exposed to flying chips or particles.
In Other Words
When dead-ending occurs, static pressure at the main orifice should not exceed 30 PSI.
Compliance of CEJN Pneumatic Safety Products
