CEJN TLX included in the standard hose and coupling kit for Epiroc hydraulic hammers at Fredsund Maskin

Fredsund Maskin is an authorized Swedish partner to Epiroc with over 50 years of experience in hydraulic hammers. They work in close cooperation to offer the best and most efficient demolition tools to their customers’ excavators. For even more added customer value, they now offer to sell the hydraulic hammer from Epiroc as a complete kit including CEJN TLX that is made to withstand hydraulic pulses.

In 2017, Fredsund Maskin became an authorized partner to Epiroc, a world-leading company within construction equipment and tools for surface and underground applications. Together, they help their customers to choose the right equipment and accessories for their machine requirements.

“Many people don’t think about the couplings and hoses between the machine and the attachment, but choosing components that work optimally with our tools are highly important to avoid downtime and costly maintenance jobs”, Nils Almkvist, Business Area Manager for hydraulic accessories at Epiroc Service Center, said.

Quality - a core value

Quality is a top priority and permeates both Epiroc and Fredsund as brands. That also put high demands on their suppliers. “We sell premium products and we should then, of course, use premium components”, Tomas Ulander, sales manager at Fredsund Maskin, said.

Except for working with suppliers and partners holding a certain level of quality, they feel a responsibility in educating customers about the importance of using equipment made to handle hydraulic pulses.

“For the complete solution to work, the customer must not only have the right hydraulic hammer but also high-quality components such as the right type of couplings”, Ulander said.

Low-quality equipment is more expensive in the long run

As many customers use their machines for more than just hydraulic hammer applications, safe and leak-free switching of the tool becomes important. The hammer application is, however, the most demanding application and sets what type of quick connection is to be installed on the machine.

A rather common issue is when customers use a coupling solution that’s not up for the task. “The biggest problem we see is when customers choose the wrong type of couplings that easily breaks, resulting in parts of metal going down in the hydraulic hammer”, Almkvist points out. “It’s way more expensive to renovate a broken hammer than it is to install couplings made to handle hydraulic pulses from the beginning.”

The environment in focus for customers’

The environmental acknowledgment hasn’t undergone anyone. Customer awareness about choosing equipment and suppliers with an environmental focus has become an important part of their everyday work. “Most often, our customers perform a job for private customers, municipalities or other workplaces with environmental requirements, such as no oil spill for example”, said Ulander and continues:

“Our customers must therefore comply with component requirements, including spill-free connections.”

A regular problem with choosing couplings not made for hydraulic pulses is the spillage. CEJN TLX is a spill-free flat-face coupling that ensures that any spillage of hydraulic oil at disconnection is minimized.

“The TLX coupling fits in well with Epirocs’ environmental profile as it meets the more stringent environmental requirements at different construction sites”, Almkvist concludes.
