How ChemPlus relies on CEJN Smartflow dry break couplings for safe AdBlue distribution

Reliable equipment is critical for effective AdBlue distribution. ChemPlus, which delivers over 650,000 litres across the UK each week, relies on CEJN Smartflow dry break couplings to ensure clean, leak-free on-site fluid handling.

Trevor Woodliffe, founder of ChemPlus, has produced and distributed AdBlue across the UK for over 15 years. Originally from an agricultural contracting background, he entered the AdBlue industry by chance. What started as a small operation became a nationwide distribution business covering England, Scotland, and Wales.

Trevor Woodliffe, founder of ChemPlus, relies on CEJN Smartflow dry break couplings to ensure efficient and leak-free operations when dealing with hazardous fluids.

Smartflow dry break couplings: a key component for ChemPlus

ChemPlus handles significant volumes of chemical fluids, with weekly output reaching around 650,000 litres, delivered by a fleet of eight vehicles. This scale of operation demands reliable equipment. "When transporting fluid, you've got to make sure the product is safely fastened in on the tanker, and when getting to the site, you've got to make sure you don't spill anywhere", says Woodliffe.

A key component for ChemPlus to ensure no spill when distributing AdBlue is CEJN Smartflow dry break couplings. "We have relied on these couplings for many years due to their reliability, ease of use, and cost-effectiveness," he says and continues. "Unlike other couplings that have caused operational issues — such as getting stuck on tanks or failing to seal correctly — CEJN's Smartflow has proven to be reliable under daily heavy use."

Quick and hassle-free connections on-site

Interchangeability is another critical factor. "With many tanks using different male fittings, having a coupling that fits universally is essential", Woodliffe says. The Smartflow coupling meets this need, ensuring quick, hassle-free connections in the field.

Woodliffe also supports the broader use of fixed AdBlue tanks instead of IBCs (Intermediate bulk containers). "With IBCs, you need to take the top off, risking getting water in if it rains. It often requires manual handling, and as they are often put in the air, we need to climb ladders to get in," he says. Smartflow-equipped tanks allow operators to work safely from the ground, minimising risk and improving workflow."

This is CEJN Smartflow dry break couplings

The Smartflow dry break couplings are aimed to aid safe, efficient and environmentally friendly transfer of fluids in safety-critical, aggressive environments. Spill-Free connections and
disconnections with minimal parts and no additional valves required can save both time and money.
