Snap-check test point system refills wind power accumulators

Pitch, yaw and brake systems on wind turbines are powered by electric or hydraulic actuation. The turbines’ hydraulic systems use high-pressure, gas-charged hydraulic accumulators, which are typically of the bladder or piston type. 

Both piston and bladder accumulators rely on elastomeric seals that have the tendency to wear, making the accumulators susceptible to leaking charge gas into the hydraulic fluid over time. Hence, they require routine inspection and maintenance for recharging and periodic seal replacement.

A CEJN customer sells ultra high pressure products to wind farms and supplies CEJN’s snap-check quick-connect pressure testing system for refilling accumulators during maintenance. The snap-check hose has a working pressure of up to 60 MPa (8,702 psi).
