Interspiro USA, Inc. of Branford, Connecticut, a CEJN customer for Series 227 breathing air couplings, has received its second approval by a United States governing body that certifies emergency responder respirators.

A CEJN customer has received its second approval by a United States governing body that certifies emergency responder respirators.

Interspiro USA, Inc. of Branford, Connecticut, has received approval of its Spirotek high-pressure respirators for occupational use by emergency responders against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear agents. The respirators are self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) that provide users with air from a pressurized cylinder or tank carried on their backs.

Interspiro received the product certification from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

Interspiro received NIOSH’s first-issued product approval in 2002 for its Spiromatic SCBA Models 4530, 6630, and 9030.

Both approvals signify that the Interspiro products are expected to protect fire fighters and other responders from dangerous exposures in the line of duty in high-threat environments.

NIOSH based its certifications on results from rigorous laboratory tests, evaluation of product specifications for the devices, and assessment of Interspiro’s quality control procedures.

Interspiro Spirotek and Spiromatic SCBA are equipped with CEJN Series 227 breathing air couplings that are made exclusively for use on Interspiro products.

Series 227 couplings are equipped with an integrated safety feature that guards against unintentional disconnection and the subsequent passage of dangerous agents from the mask to the face and lungs of SCBA users. The lightweight couplings generate a high rate of airflow and require only one hand for connection.

CEJN has been awarded new business from a global automotive supplier in Graz, Austria. Magna International Inc., a designer and developer of automotive systems and assembler of complete vehicles for OEMs, has standardized on CEJN Series 320 vented safety couplings at two new facilities. The couplings are being used for pneumatic tool applications at Magna’s BMW X3 and Saab convertible car model assembly plants in Graz.

The couplings are being used for pneumatic tool applications at Magna’s BMW X3 and Saab convertible car model assembly plants in Graz.

Each facility has been equipped with Series 320 couplings and hose kits, supplied through GeZet, a CEJN product dealer in Austria, and Atlas Copco, a tool supplier that sells CEJN products worldwide.

Magna’s decision to standardize on Series 320 couplings was influenced by the product’s safety features. Since the Austrian trade association is now recommending only safety-style couplings for in-plant use, the planning group for the European car industry has decided to standardize on safety couplings for all new facilities.

CEJN Series 320 recoil-free couplings are disconnected in two stages, in order to vent the coupling and minimize the risk of sudden component separation, which has the potential to cause operator injury. The product’s low-noise level during disconnection, combined with a low-connection force, ensures a safer working environment.

A new version of a popular Vacula product will become part of CEJN’s pneumatics product line. The Vacula Multi-Vac fluid evacuator will take on the CEJN brand name and will be available from CEJN companies throughout the world.

The Vacula Multi-Vac will take on a new brand name and market segment when it becomes part of the CEJN line this month. Traditionally an automotive product, it will be introduced to CEJN’s pneumatics accounts in the industrial manufacturing sector.

The Multi-Vac general fluid evacuator is designed for use with all types of non-explosive fluids. In the automotive segment, it is suited for such applications as:
· Empting car/truck windshield cleaning systems
· Extracting coolant and gear and transmission oil from cars/trucks
· Evacuating engine oil from motorbikes, lawn mowers, jet skies, or vehicles with similar engine types.

In the industrial market, the Multi-Vac evacuator is useful for evacuating oils, coolants, and non-explosive fluids from tools and production machinery.

Unlike competitive products that are hand-driven, the Multi-Vac system uses a vacuum process that is generated inside the unit when it is connected to a compressed air system, such as those found on production machinery. By pressing the Multi-Vac handle, vacuum is generated, and the fluid is evacuated/sucked from the compressed air system into the Multi-Vac canister in a smooth and clean process.

The Multi-Vac evacuator is made at Vacula Tools in Zug, Switzerland, and has been available to the automotive industry for three years.

New 2-N-1 couplings from CEJN are specially designed to give customers the benefits of two couplings in one style. The new couplings series is an updated version of Series 310 couplings that interchanges with two nipple profiles, including ARO 210—Series 300 and ISO 6150 B/US MIL-C-4109—Series 310.

CEJN is introducing a new series of quick connect couplings that are specially designed to give customers the benefits of two couplings in one style.

Known as CEJN 2-N-1 couplings, the new coupling series is an updated version of Series 310 couplings that interchanges with two nipple profiles, including: CEJN Series 300 (ARO 210) and CEJN Series 310 (ISO 6150 B/US MIL-C-4109)

The latest CEJN quick connect coupling for compressed air applications offers benefits to both end-users and distributors. End-users can utilize the new 2-N-1 couplings in their compressed air systems for both Series 300 and Series 310 nipple profiles, and distributors will benefit since they can now stock one coupling style instead of two.

With a working pressure of 16 bar (232 PSI), CEJN 2-N-1 couplings feature many of the same quality design features as Series 300 and Series 310 couplings. Among them are low-connection force, high flow, and one-hand operation. Male threads on the couplings and nipples feature pre-applied thread sealant.

CEJN 2-N-1 couplings are now in production at CEJN headquarters in Sweden.

Target markets for the new coupling style include the United States and several European countries, including Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Switzerland.

CEJN has redesigned it Series 550 quick connect couplings for compressed air applications. Series 550 couplings now feature the same high-quality internal components as CEJN Series 410 and Series 430 couplings.

By taking on characteristics of CEJN Series 400 platform products, new Series 550 offers important user benefits associated with the 400 platform. The redesigned Series 550 couplings now have smaller outside dimensions and are lower in weight than their predecessors, as well as having a stronger valve package, which improves their durability.

Easy-to-grip, durable Series 550 products feature several, popular CEJN design features, such as low-connection force, high flow, and one-hand operation. The series has a maximum working pressure of 35 bar (507 PSI) and a temperature range of -20º C to +100º C (-4º F to +212º F)

Interchangeable with U.S. MIL-C 4109 ½-inch couplings, they are popular in the U.S., as well as Norway, France, and the Far East.

Inventories of the original Series 550 couplings, first introduced to the marketplace in 1983, are now being depleted. Production startup of the new design begins this month in Skövde. Parts numbers will remain the same.

CEJN is adding to its strength in a new key market with the introduction of a coupling series that offers protection against spillage.

New Series X65 flat-face couplings strengthen CEJN’s entry into the mobile medium-pressure hydraulics market. Following WEO Plug-In hose fitting and series 525 quick connect couplings it will expand CEJN’s presence in this key area.

Series X65 meets design requirements for new ISO Standard 16028, established in 1999, for flat-face hydraulic couplings with pressures up to 315 bar.

CEJN is launching Series X65 couplings with BSP threads in 1/4-inch through 1-inch sizes. Target markets include construction equipment, agricultural machinery, and forestry equipment.

The flat-face design of CEJN’s new Series X65 couplings minimizes spillage during connection and disconnection. Operators simply wipe the faces clean prior to assembly, thereby minimizing contamination.

The couplings require only one-hand for operation, making connections and disconnections fast and easy. When connected, the coupling and nipple automatically lock into place.

The latest new coupling product from CEJN is designed with manual security locking as added protection against involuntary disconnection. This extra locking feature is engaged by manually turning the locking sleeve after connection. The lock is released by returning the sleeve to its original position during disconnection.

Starting this year, CEJN locations throughout the world will begin marketing and selling Vacula-brand products. Vacula products are manufactured by CEJN’s sister company, Vacula Tools in Zug, Switzerland. Sold primarily to the automotive market, the Vacula product line includes brake tools, fluid handling equipment, coolant refillers, volt checks, blowguns, and hose reels. The products will be sold under the Vacula brand name.

Sold primarily to the automotive market, the Vacula product line includes brake tools, fluid handling equipment, coolant refillers, volt checks, blowguns, and hose reels. The products will be sold under the Vacula brand name.

Incorporating Vacula products into the CEJN line will help to increase sales in both lines. Although the CEJN line includes primarily general industrial products, the pneumatics range has appeal in the automotive sector. Teaming up the two products will give CEJN a new presence in the automotive market, in both the OEM and aftermarket sectors. And offering Vacula products in the CEJN sales network will increase Vacula sales in the industrial sector.

Over the next 12 months, Vacula products will be phased into the product offering at each CEJN Company worldwide. Starting the Vacula product launch are CEJN Products Far East in Singapore and CEJN Iberica in Barcelona, Spain. Although CEJN Singapore has handled the Vacula line for several years, it will increase its emphasis on marketing and selling the line to service garages, oil companies, car manufacturers, and military and industrial accounts.

Starting this month, CEJN Spain will begin marketing Vacula products in Spain, Portugal, and Latin America.

The official launch of the line will take place at the Motortec Exhibition, May 28 to June 1, in Madrid. Decision makers attending the automotive equipment and components show will have the opportunity to take a first-hand look at the complete Vacula and CEJN pneumatics product.

CEJN engineers have developed a specially designed cartridge that integrates WEO fittings into female adapters or fitting bodies, or even directly into hydraulic components, such as valves, filters, pumps, and motors.

With the new cartridge, OEMs can offer their customers hydraulic components with fluid connectors already in place, eliminating the need to include costly sub-assembled adapters with their component packages.

The new WEO Plug-In hose cartridge will be launched during the upcoming months and will be available initially in 1/4-, 3/8-, and 1/2-inch sizes. Other sizes will be added to the line.

CEJN will use the upcoming Hannover Messe exhibition to debut the new WEO product to European customers. Taking center stage in CEJN’s booth will be a hydraulic system with WEO cartridges integrated into several system components.

WEO Plug-In hose fittings are CEJN’s response to customer inquiries for end connections that simply “plug in” to hydraulic systems. The innovative click-to-connect feature of WEO fittings eliminates the need for tools or wrenches that are needed to connect and disconnect traditional threaded fittings.

WEO fittings are leak-free and slash downtime for assembly and field maintenance, since only a common screwdriver is needed to remove hose assemblies.

CEJN has entered into a major license agreement with hose manufacturing giant, Parker Hannifin Corporation. In terms of the agreement, CEJN has given Parker’s Hose Products Division Europe the right to manufacture and distribute the male half of CEJN WEO Plug-In hose fittings with Parker end connections.

The agreement also authorizes Parker to distribute the female half of WEO fittings. Parker will sell the WEO products under the brand name, Parker-WEO.

The new agreement is an extension of a WEO agreement that CEJN established with ITR S.p.A. of Veniano, Italy, which Parker purchased in 2002. Extending the agreement to include the Parker European organization will lead to additional growth and industry acceptance of WEO products, said Arne Cederqvist, president of CEJN.

“Parker’s large sales organization has the means to promote the WEO system among customers that we are not reaching,” Arne said. “And since Parker will be able to offer valves and other products integrated with WEO products, the agreement further opens doors to large OEM customers requesting total system suppliers.” Partnering with hose manufacturers is an important step in CEJN’s initiative to increase its market share in the threadless connector market.

Innovative alternatives to traditional screw-together end fittings, WEO Plug-In hose fittings have a click-to-connect feature that easily engages the products’ male and female halves—dramatically reducing installation time. Since WEO fittings “plug in” securely to hydraulic systems, hydraulic leakage and the need for follow-up tightening are virtually eliminated

CEJN welcomed visitors from all over the globe to the stand at the Hannover Exhibition.

Products from CEJN took center stage at the Hannover Exhibition, the world’s largest industrial trade fair. CEJN obtained over 550 sales leads from 61 countries at the six-day show, marking a 35% increase over the number of leads generated from CEJN’s last Hannover Exhibition appearance in 2001.

Products from CEJN took center stage at the Hannover Exhibition, the world’s largest industrial trade fair held in April in Hannover, Germany.

All standard product ranges were featured in our company’s display, with special emphasis on such new products as:
· WEO Plug-In hose cartridges
· Multi-Vac fluid evacuators
· All stainless steel Series 347 breathing air couplings
· Series 115 high-pressure high-flow couplings

In addition to exhibiting standard products, the CEJN 72 m2 display was designed to communicate CEJN’s “Quick Connect Specialist” image and capabilities throughout the global market.

Making their debut tradeshow appearance were numerous custom products made by the CEJN Product Workshop in Skövde, Sweden. The products were used as examples of CEJN’s capabilities in designing and manufacturing limited quantities of custom couplings that are needed by customers to replace troublesome products or build into new or existing applications.

From the beginning of the week through the end of the show, the CEJN booth received more visitors than the surrounding stands, which was attributed to the open and inviting design of the exhibit, as well as interesting product displays and an active staff.

The show was an important forum where CEJN products were demonstrated by an enthusiastic staff and handled by thousands of people. The show opened doors for new and powerful customer partnerships and provided a place to meet with customer representatives.
